T2-B54, Blackfish

March 11 2015:
I spent my day watching documentaries on Netflix, including Blackfish. I've watched Blackfish before but I decided to re-watch it. The way I learned about Blackfish was that one night, after I went to bed, I went to get a drink and I past by the stairs that lead down to our TV room and I saw an orca whale on the TV and I said "WOW! Mom, Dad, can I please watch?". As soon as they saw me, right away it was like "go upstairs!". I didn't really get why so I pretended to go upstairs but I sat at the top of the stairs and I watched. The very next scene was of a trainer getting pulled under the water by a whale. I remember being horrified, running up to my room and crawling in bed, but I wanted to learn more. So I looked at my parents' history on Netflix and I watched the whole documentary, by myself, on my phone. As a lover of animals, that documentary was heartbreaking, not only for the animals but for the people too. The worst part, is that I've been to SeaWorld, I loved it, I was so happy there. And to think, during one of the shows that I had seen, something horrific, easily could've happened. As depressing as that documentary is, I love it.  As horrible and as sad as the content is, I love it. I love it because it allows change to be made, it opens eyes for the future generation (like myself). I would highly recommend it to anyone (over a certain age, of course) because change needs to be made, for a better life for us and the animals.
Back to blogging. Wow, it's been a while. Today I had my first crow encounter. I witnessed one crow (who I've decided to name Benny) eat some peanuts then fly away with others, I'm assuming to cache. Then I saw a second crow (who is going to be named Roger) "shadow" Benny, carefully watching everything from a distance. I don't know if Roger was trying to find Benny's cache or if he was deciding whether or not the food coming from me was safe, but he didn't do a whole lot.

January 24 2015:
Today I had a basketball game against Notre Dame bright and early. We played much better than we have been and we ended our losing streak with a win of 36-27. After the game I went home, ate lunch, and took a nap. Later, I went to watch the UBC women's volleyball game with all the Thunder volleyball girls (every age division). It was really cool to see our coaches with their main team and I've been coached by girls on the team at various camps, and so it was really cool to see them in action. We also got all of our "uniforms". We got our jackets (which are awesome), our t-shirts (which are awesome), our jerseys (which are ok, ours are white, because we're Thunder White, and they're not as nice as the blue ones, but whatever), and our BACKPACKS (which are AWESOME)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't get backpacks last year so I'm super excited and our season opener is tomorrow so I have to go get some rest. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 20 2015:
Today I got an extra hour of sleep because I had a field trip. At Granville Island I took some photos and jut walked around with my friends. In the afternoon, we did the Socratic circles, which were actually kind of fun. After school, I had a basketball game against Kits and our team got crushed. We were scrambled, we had no intensity, it was not our best day. We lost pretty bad, and the team is playing them again tomorrow (I won't be there; IB test) and hopefully they learn from today. I, for one, probably could've played a little cleaner and been moving with the ball on defense instead of waiting for the pass to be made.

January 19 2015:
Today I didn't do much other than go to basketball practice. At practice, we were shooting, which is one of my weakest areas of the game. I've been practicing and I really thought I was improving... However, we had to shoot 2 foul shots, run, touch a wall, then shoot another 2 and repeat until we made 10. Girls were already done and I hadn't made any yet and as someone who strives to do the best at whatever they're doing, that was hard. It was hard being the last one, it was hard having my coach solely focused on me, trying to get me through, and even though people were trying to be supportive, it was hard hearing things like "Good job for finishing!". I kind of just wanted to cry, but what good would that have done me? So I got a quick water break, picked myself up and put on a smile for the rest of practice. But to be honest, it sucked, and I have a lot of hard work in front of me if I want to improve. But my goals are to focus on my form, learn from my mistakes, and become a stronger player than I've ever been.

January 18 2015:
AAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDD... We're back! I haven't blogged since school started and to be honest, no ones really missing much. Today I woke up to an empty house and after a little running around, I figured out that my parents had gone on a bike ride (their bikes were missing). So I made some breakfast and got myself ready for the day. Later I went to T&T to get some hot pot ingredients and we had hot pot for dinner. We got noodles, mushrooms, beef, prawns, quail eggs, and tofu. Dinner was good and then I got a really bad headache, so now I'm going to bed. Yay?

Today I celebrated Russian Christmas. It's a little early but that's ok. We ate traditional Russian food and we had really good friends over! I'm not looking forward to school tomorrow...but is that really a surprise?
