March 30 2014:
I didn't blog while I was in Russia since Wifi is really expensive and I didn't want to make extra costs for my grandparents. Some highlights of being in Russia include: riding segways with my mom's cousin's kids, buying 2500 rubles worth of chocolate, and having a big family get-together.
Today I got on a flight out of Vladivostok at 1:40 am on the 30st (today)(Vladivostok time). Then it was a 2 hour flight to Beijing. The time difference between Vladivostok and Beijing is 2 hours so we got there at 1:30 am Beijing time. Our connection flight was at 1 pm so we had a 12 hour layover. We decided that there was no point in sticking around at the airport and we couldn't really go out to see the city because it was 2 am. We ended up going to a hotel to just get some sleep and re-charge. Then, it was a 12 hour flight to Vancouver and we ended up getting here around 8:30 am. So total, flights + layover, we traveled for 24 hours.
I didn't take a nap today on purpose because I knew, if I took a nap, there was no way I would sleep well tonight. I also wanted to get an especially good night rest because tomorrow school starts and I want to be energetic on the first day back. It's also the second to last training day for volleyball before regionals and I really want to make the most of it. So I'm going to bed a little earlier and hopefully I get some good rest.

March 20 2014:
Today I went to Disney land! I really wasn't expecting much since: A. I've been to the one in L.A., and B. The reviews weren't all that great. However, although it wasn't as amazing as the Californian park, it was a lot of fun. In the end there were only 3 rides I didn't go on. The orbitron, the Cinderella carousel, and Autopia. My 3 favorite rides were: 3. RC racer 2. Space Mountain and 1. Runaway mine cars. The mine car ride was a really last minute thing. I had just gotten off the Mystic Manor ride and I said "OK. Gift shop, and then we can go." As I was passing the mine cars I looked at the little sign that show the length of the wait. The wait was only 5 minutes, which really means no line. I ended up changing my mind and saying "Let's skip the gift shop, I'd rather go on this ride(my brother had already gotten a souvenir, so he wouldn't be missing out)." My mom and I hopped on the ride and it was SO MUCH FUN! We went once and it was so much fun, we decided to sneak in another run (my dad thinks we only went once). At the end of the day, I left without a physical souvenir but with some great memories instead.

March 19 2014:
Today after breakfast we hopped on the Star Ferry and went to Kowloon. Hong Kong is an island, but Kowloon is attached to the mainland. First of all, we walked on the boardwalk of stars. There we saw the stars for Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and some other Chinese stars. After that, we went to the museum of Science. Inside, there's stuff on electricity, motors, food, and other. There was also a extra exhibition on dinosaurs so my brother and I went. He got a little scared though... After that, we went to the history of Hong Kong museum. That was really cool and there were so many things to see.
After lunch, we took the subway to a place called temple street, where there's apparently a market. Unfortunately, the market only works at night. W ended up going to Ladies market instead. It was a really great experience. There was this bag that I really like and the vendor said $259(Hong Kong dollars) and with some bargening, my dad brought it down to $120 which is only $17 Canadian. We also bargained for a spoon from $49 to $30. It's really cool because of the language barrier. The vendor put the price on a calculator then they'll say "for you, cheaper" and theymultiply the price by 0.8 or something like that. Then you have to say "No, lower" delete their number and punch in your own. Then they'll generally disagree and then you reach a consensus. It was really fun!

March 18 2014:
Today I spent all day at Ocean Park. Ocean Park is this really cool theme park that's built on the side of a mountain. First, we went on a cable car to the other side of the mountain. This is because Ocean Park is split up into two sections: The Waterfront and The Summit. When you enter the park, you're at the Waterfront section. To get to the Summit, you have to either take a cable car over top of the mountain or you can take a train through the mountain. We decided to take the cable car and the view was amazing! At the summit you find a lot of rides and this is more the amusement park side. There are roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, raft rides, everything! I decided that I would go on all the scariest rides, and I did. The top three scariest, in order from least to greatest, were: the dragon, the hair raiser, and the flash. None of them were that bad though...
After some coaster riding, we took the train down to the Waterfront. At the Waterfront, it's more relaxed. There's a place to see giant pandas, the kids section is there, and the great aquarium is located there as well. The great aquarium was really cool, but it was packed! There were so many people there you had to fight your way through a crowd to see anything.
Unfortunately, people aren't very good at following instructions. On every tank there is a sticker with a no-flash sign. This is because flash photos are a disturbance to the animals. But, like I said, people don't follow instructions and so pretty much every photo was taken with flash on. This actually makes me really upset because these animals have so many flashes in their faces that if they aren't blind, they're never in peace. This one animal (I don' even know what it was) was really near the glass, so everyone was taking pictures of it. And with every flash, you could see it's eyes grow wider and it's pupils shrink away from all the light. It was really sad to see... Other than that, Ocean Park was a great experience (and the photographers weren't the park's fault) and I would definitely recommend it to anyone planning to visit Hong Kong.

March 17 2014:
Today was a really fun-packed day. We started off SUPER early (like 5:30) because we're all really jet-lagged and the time difference is really annoying. We got some breakfast at the hotel and then went and took the light city bus. The light city bus is one of 3 kinds of buses that you find in Hong Kong. It has a 16 person capacity and It's pretty tiny. We were supposed to take #56 but we ended up getting on bus #56A, which we thought would have been the same thing. It wasn't. But after a really speedy ride (and I mean really speedy, that thing was going so fast!) and asking some locals, we ended up getting to where we wanted to go, the base of the Victoria peak. From the base it was about a 3km hike. When we got up we had some ice cream, enjoyed the view, and then we bused back to the city in a double-decker bus.
Back in the city we did this thing called mid-level. It's a bunch of escalators that connect with overhead walkways that take you up this giant hill. Then, on your way down, there's a ton of touristy places to go to. We ended up missing most of them, but we ended up going to a temple for a religion that's a cross between Buddhism and Taoism and we went down Hollywood road, a.k.a. antique road.
Antique road was really cool. It was like a giant market. There were veggies carts, bakeries, fish shops, and meat shops. The meat shops sold everything, and I mean everything from every animal. I even saw a giant ox tail hanging from the side of the store and when a delivery truck came, it was carrying three whole pigs.
For lunch we went to this super popular place in IFC (international finance center) where we got steamed buns, dumplings, and this awesome jell-o cake thing. It was this orange colored gelatine with berries and flowers inside and it was really good.  After lunch, we came to the hotel on a tram, which was really fun to ride. After a quick break we went out to see the celebration of light. We got to the venue for the celebration and it begins. It was one of the saddest things I've ever seen. We expected fireworks or something like that, but all it was was spotlights and a couple lasers. We took a cab back to the hotel and I'm super tired and ready for a good night's sleep.

March 16 2014:
It's gonna be really weird because now I'm blogging on Hong Kong time. So it's 11 pm here but 8 am in Vancouver. I didn't blog yesterday because at 2 am (Vancouver time) I was getting on a plane and then we landed at 6 am today (Hong Kong time). Hong Kong is really cool. One minute you're in a very old area with markets and "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants and the next you're in Times Square. That's actually what they've called their square. The also have a world trade center...
The food here is really weird and cool. In their trail mix they have whole dried fish (I'll insert pictures later) and at this restaurant we went to they had beef tripe, beef lung, cuttlefish heads, and a lot more (nobody  in my family was daring enough to try any of those)We were all really tired today so we napped from 12-7, went out for dinner and now, we're going back to bed.

March 14 2014:
Today was the last day of school before spring break! I'm so ready for a break. I thought I was flying to Hong Kong on a midnight flight, since my parents said we were leaving at midnight. What they meant was that we were leaving our house at midnight. Our flight is more 2:30-ish. I'm really excited for Hong Kong but not so excited for attempting to sleep on the plane.
After I cam home from ultimate, volleyball, and tennis I took a shower, got into my "flight clothes" (the most comfortable clothes in my closet other than pajamas)and finished packing up. I'm leaving in a couple hours and I'm really excited!

March 13 2014:
Last day 2 before spring break! So far so good, no homework over spring break! We'll see if we get anything tomorrow. I'm really nervous for the socials test... Chinese dynasties are so hard to remember.
Today were the tennis tryouts and all the girls that tried out made the team instantly. This is because you need a minimum of 5 girls and 5 guys on a team and 5 girls tried out. We'll see hoe this goes.
I got my bike after school, hopped on, and my back tire wouldn't move. That's because someone decided to clip their lock to one of my spokes. I had to practically carry my bike home and how my dad and I have to fix it. I'm hoping someone randomly selected my bike cause if someone chose mine on pupose, that would really suck.

March 12 2014:
Today was report card day! And I'm glad to say that my hard work payed off. I ended up getting principal's list (first time getting straight A's ever). I remember blogging in T2 and saying that I would make principal's list this term, that I would make it happen, and I guess I did.
I went shopping at pacific centre today. I was in need of some shorts for spring break and some new jeans for Russia. I normally shop in the kids section at H&M since the largest size (14+) fits me perfectly. I made a discovery though. H&M actually has a youth section. I wouldn't go there that often though. The shorts are really (and I mean REALLY) short and a lot of the other clothing exposes things that shouldn't be exposed. I ended getting 2 pair of jeans and 2 pairs of shorts so I guess I was successful in finding shorts in the youth section that weren't booty shorts.

March 11 2014:
Today was Amy's birthday! Yesterday I made her cupcakes and so I gave them to her today. As I was getting to school though, the handles on the box I was carrying the cupcakes decided to break and the box dropped and the letters I put on top cracked. I was devastating because I spent a lot of time on them. They still tasted good though.
I had ultimate today and it was the best weather we've had so far. Even though it wasn't rainy or muddy, I still managed to get mud on my calves. I think physically, I hold my own with the guys. Skills wise... not so great. We were asked to consider team captains. They need one guy and one girl. I think Amber should probably be the girl captain because she has the experience, skill set, and amazing-ness to lead a team into victory.
My song of the day is Dear Blank by Hedley. Pretty much for the same reason as yesterday's song.

March 10 2014:
After the time change, I always have a really hard time sleeping. That thing messes with your brain! We got a new seating plan in socials and I like who I'm sitting with, I just not excited for the comments that will come out of it. I'll do my best to not let it bother me though.
At volleyball I really gave it my all and I played really well. I'm getting much more comfortable diving and so I find myself on the floor a lot more, but if it gets the ball up, it's worth it. For the rest of the season I have my jersey number 13! Some people say 13 is unlucky, but personally, I find the number to be really lucky.
My song of the day (I decided I'm gonna do this again) is She's So Sorry by Hedley. Hedley used to be so good and then I guess radio happened and they are really pop now. She's So Sorry however, is really good.

March 9 2014:
Today I did some cleaning and I spent a lot of time on my trampoline. For dinner we went to Peaceful restaurant on broadway and cambie. It was on diners, drive-ins, and dives and it's soooooooo good. It's Chinese food but it's super amazing and delicious.
I found out my permanent team for the rest of the volleyball season (regionals, provincials, and hopefully nationals). As soon as I saw the roster and knew immediately that they were doing an A team and a B team. There was no way that those teams were even, which makes sense, because you want the highest chance possible of getting a team into nationals. I am slightly disappointed that I'm on the B team, but it makes sense, it's my first year and I'm definitely not as heavy of a hitter as the A team girls. There are 13 girls on the B team and I think I'm somewhere in the top 5 but at least that means I'll get a lot of playing time and if my team works hard we might do better than the A team because the girls on my team definitely have the potential.

March 7 2014:
TGIF! Friday's are the most exhausting day of the week, especially on day 2's. I have gym (if it's a day 2), ultimate (If I made the team), volleyball, and tennis. When we have a block rotation, I'm gonna have gym last block so I'll have sports from 1:45-9:00 with the only break being the time it takes to drive from place to place. I'm not complaining though, I love sports and I love having all these things I'm doing.
Most people have 3 meals a day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On Fridays however, I have four meals. Breakfast, lunch, dinner #1 (in between volleyball and tennis), which is normally really light since I only have a 25 minute car ride to digest, and dinner #2 (after tennis), which is normally much larger than the first dinner. I'm really tired and I'm gonna sleep really well.

March 6 2014:
Today was the opera! I love the opera and it's always been a huge part of my life. They did some things differently than I expected but it was really fun. There was some comedy but it was also really dramatic. Don Giovanni was a really good experience and I'm really glad I went. The Queen Elizabeth theater is always so majestic and the stage is so big. Once again, I'm really glad I went and I'm really happy.

Today I signed up for track and field. The only thing I signed up for was high jump because that's my favorite event.
I went out for dinner with some of my mom's friends from work. We went to green lemongrass vietnamese restaurant. My blog is really short today...

March 4 2014:
Today we found out grades for English, science, and socials. I remember in a previous post I said that in term 2 I was gonna get principals list and that I was gonna make it happen. If all goes well, I think I have achieved my goal. Some subject were really close, others it was a clean, solid A. Regardless, I hope principals list has been achieved since I worked a lot harder this term than last term.
Ultimate tryouts were after school. It was really cold, wet, and muddy but it was really fun. Because only 16 8-10s tried out, everyone made the team. I'm really excited to play ultimate so now I need to go buy cleats...
The potluck was ok. My brother had a lot of fun and I think people found hime entertaining.

Today I woke up early and went to a volleyball tournament. My team this time around was a lot better then my team last tournament. We ended up winning our pool, it wasn't even close. Then I went to my brother's friend's birthday party. While I was there, I went to get donuts and pasta because I was really hungry. Those were reeaally good donuts. After that I went to Catelyn's birthday party. We had cake and cupcakes and pizza and it was really fun

March 1 2014:
Today I had guitar and I am now learning No Good Deed from the hit musical Wicked. I wanted to learn this because Wicked is coming to Vancouver and I'm going to see it! I saw it once in Seattle and fell in love. I've been looking for a good version online and there's nothing. So I'm SUPER excited to go again. It isn't until May 31st, but I can't wait.
I didn't do much today, other then going out for dinner. I was one of my best friends' little sister's birthday dinner today. We went to Nick's spaghetti house. That little restaurant has been on the corner of commercial and georgia for 56 years. The food was ok but it's more the tradition and the atmosphere. It's a very family-friendly place and very popular. We even saw Kolton Stewart from YTV's "some assembly required". My friend went to the taping of the show twice and the first time he won a dolphin suit, and the second time he wore the suit and then they had him dance in it during shoots. I guess a guy dancing in a dolphin suit isn't easy to forget 'cause Kolton remembered him. It was kind of a hi-bye kind of thing though. I had a great time and there were lots of laughs and it was a great way to celebrate the sister's birthday.
