January 31 2014:
I haven't been blogging for the past two day because exams have really been stressing me out. I don't even want to think about the results. Today I went back to my elementary school to visit. It was really fun to see everyone again and see all my Gr.6 friends (now in Gr.7).
After going back, I went to a basketball tournament at Notre Dame. The first team we played in the tournament: Byng. You may recall my dramatic post about our last game with Byng. How we lost by one point. http://www.cookingsweets123.blogspot.ca/2014/01/t2-b42.html click the link to see that post. Anyway, we play against Byng. At one point we were down like 11-22. It was pretty bad. In the second half, however, we turned it around and showed those girls what we were made of. We ended up winning 30-26!
Our next game was against the home team, Notre Dame. http://www.cookingsweets123.blogspot.ca/2013/12/t2-b13.html We've played them before and we only lost by 3 points. Today, we came out strong and we beat them by 3 points. Take that ND! We we're up by one for THE longest time (maybe 1 1/2 quarters) then, they fouled us and we got 2 shots. They were being really obnoxious and we yelling and cheering to try and throw our girl off during the shots. She ended up making both. On top of all that, I got awarded player of the game. I'm so happy, I've been trying to get player of the game for a while now so I'm really happy.

January 28 2013:
Today I had half-blocks of guitar and gym. I nearly died of boredom during guitar. Gym, on the other hand, was fun. We played dodge-ball, volleyball, and four-corner soccer. After school we had a game against Magee. We ended up winning 16-20-something, I think... I'm really bad at remembering scores.
After I came home I had dinner and packed up all my stuff for my groups hydraulic lift. I made some Jell-o and watched cut-throat kitchen. I didn't really do much today. I'm going to bed super early though (10), because I have early morning practice tomorrow.

January 26 2014:
Today I woke up and 30 minutes later I was in the car driving to the Richmond oval. At the oval, I had an extra practice session for volleyball with a couple other girls from thunder who decided to come. It was a 3 hour practice so I got pretty tired, especially since 1 hour of it was exclusively conditioning.
After I came home, Tania came over and we went to home depot to shop for the supplies for our groups hydraulic lift. We bought tube, adapters, all that good stuff and it ended up being really inexpensive. Then we went to Starbucks and got frappuccinos.
Later that day my dad and I went out for dinner with an old friend of ours. My mom and my brother would have came but my brother was sick and my mom recently got 2 of her wisdom teeth taking out and she still isn't feeling good. We ended up going to the Cactus Club and we grabbed some dinner and just talked.
I'm really nervous for the English essay tomorrow because last time I wrote an essay for English... It didn't go so well...

January 24 2014:
Today I didn't have basketball but I did have volleyball and tennis. At both I played mostly games, some drills but generally, gameplay. Speaking of sports, I finally got my front walkover for PE. I've been trying for 2 weeks to get it and I finally did so I'm super excited and I'm definitely using it in my routine.
I've begun a countdown to my birthday. if you don't count today or my birthday there's only 8 more days until I turn 14. When I've posted this there will be exactly 8 days 10 hours 23 minutes and 40 seconds until 10:00 am of my birthday

January 23 2014:
Today, all we did during basketball was solid conditioning. We did wall sits, v-sits, burpees, foot-fire, sprints, and so much more. The schedule for basketball keeps changing. We now have a game on Monday and Tuesday. We normally have games on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We also entered another tournament so we'll see how that goes.
When I got home I made a homemade slurpee because it was actually really hot out (or maybe it was just the basketball...) I made the slurpee by blending up 1 kiwi, 4 strawberries, and 1/3 cup of water until it was kind of a juice. Then I added 1/4 cup of sugar and 12 ice cubes and blended that until it became the texture of a slurpee. You can do it with any kind of drink. Juice, pop, tea, anything just add some sugar and ice (unless the drink you are using is SUPER sweet, maybe skip the sugar then). Displaying photo 1.JPG  My mom got 2 of her wisdom teeth pulled so she spent the day mostly in bed. As a result, we had soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. My dad also received that decoden pack I ordered a while back (still waiting for the phone case, but it's coming)
Displaying photo 2.JPG It came a week earlier than expected so that's awesome. It kind of amazing that all that stuff goes on 1 case, but I'm kind of worried that I don't have enough pearls. At least I got a blue case so if the case shows through, it doesn't really matter.
My song of the day (yes, we are going back to this) is Let it go from the Disney movie Frozen. I love the original but the one with 25 languages is cool too. I actually managed to find a russian version. The meaning of the words is kind of off but considering they had to make the animation look like she was saying those words, they did pretty good.

January 22 2014:
Today I got a free block because my french class (including the teacher) was away on a field trip. I, however, don't take french immersion socials so I did not go. I wasn't bored to tears though because luckily it was the block where we had the assembly, so I just went there.
Displaying photo 2.JPGDisplaying photo 1.JPG  We had practice after school today and we finally got our hoodies! Another unbelievable thing happened... We actually got to watch the guys play their game. WOAH! We got to watch 4 minutes of the last quarter and I don't think the other team was very much competition. It is possible though, that it was a super intense game but I walked past the gym during the second quarter and it was 10-1. Kind of a big difference there.

January 20 2014:
Today the block rotation confused me a lot. I prefer how my classes used to be but, oh well... Early morning practice really took its toll later on in the day. This was especially because I had volleyball after school. I'm starting to kind of get my jump serve. So way back when, I did that recipe thing to possibly be in a book. I hadn't heard from the author in a really long time so I got really discouraged. However, I was checking my email and I received an email from the author about how I want my name to appear in the book and if I had any Instagram/Twitter/Facebook that I wanted to put in the credits. I'm not getting my hopes too high in case they are still deciding, but I did let out a squeal when I saw the email. SO EXCITED!!!!Wait! I literally got a message a second ago. The author sent us the title of the book and she says it's for everyone involved! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!!

January 18 2014:
Today I had guitar but my teacher's baby was sick so I had another teacher. I'm still working on no place like home. It's really tedious, but I think it will sound awesome one I figure it out. After guitar, we stopped at pirate joe's. They pretty much buy stuff from trader joe's and sell it in Vancouver for twice the price. We bought dried banana, dried pineapple, pumpkin seeds, and these apple gummies that are shaped like penguins called gummy tummies.
Later today we went to see the UBC thunderbird women's team play a game and they destroyed their opponent. It's actually kind of sad because that was supposed to be their biggest competition in the tournament. The team is going for their 7th consecutive national title (which will be record-breaking). After the game I made a frittata for lunch tomorrow, talked with my grandma on skype, and watched some tennis.I also worked on my cross-stitch.

January 16 2014:
Today was our game against kits. We were (at least I was) a bit scared because yesterday their boys team beat our boys and the boys are better than us, so I was slightly nervous. We ended up winning though! We beat them 30-21, I think and I actually scored a basket! It may not seem like a lot but normally all I do is block shots and rebound so getting a basket is a pretty big deal.
My brother is having a playdate tomorrow with 3 people so I baked some things. I made a mountain of cookies (45) and some cupcakes. The cookies are really good (oatmeal and raisin) and I'm hoping the cupcakes turned out okay. A pretty basic day. Still super sore, like yesterday. I hope it isn't anything serious...

January 15 2013:
Today I woke up and my legs we EXTREMELY sore. It's been bothering me all day and I've come to the conclusion that it's the gymnastics in gym. I do have some gymnastics background but it's been about 6 months since I've done any intense tumbling/floor exercises. I think the fact that I haven't used those muscles in a while and then using them in full force yesterday probably is what caused my legs to get so sore.
I had basketball practice after school while the guys were playing kits. I know two guys on the kits team but they aren't really my friends so I didn't say hi. A couple people came from my school to test for Synergy though, so I said hi to them. That was pretty much my day...

January 14 2014:
Today was our game against Byng. It started off not so great, we were down 10-2 after the first quarter. Then in the second quarter, I think it was 12-10 for us, so we were in the lead. Then in the third quarter I think the score was 22-26, once again we were in the lead. And then, in the least quarter they tied it up and we went to overtime. I wasn't supposed to play overtime. One of the girls who was about to play, however, said "I don't want to play, put Sasha in instead." So I ended up playing in the overtime. First of all, I was shaken, I wasn't ready to play, and secondly my game was off the whole day, so there wasn't really any reason why it would magically get better for overtime. In the last 43 seconds we were leading 27-26. In the last 15 seconds there was a time out. Our coach specifically said, "if you get the ball, just hold it until time runs out." So there was 15 seconds left, and somehow, I get the ball. When I looked up, I saw that there was nobody remotely near the hoop, so I went for a shot, instead of following my coach's instruction. I missed, they got the rebound and scored. Now it's 27-28 for them. 2 seconds left on the buzzer. We go, and they foul us. Our girl misses her first shot. Then she misses her second. I get the rebound, go up for the shot...(by the way, 1 second left one the timer)and.................................................. I MISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so upset. I felt like I screwed it up for my team, that it was all my fault. If I had held onto that ball at 15 seconds, we would have won. If I got that shot off the rebound, we would have won. I came home, cried some more, got starbucks and watched disney movie in my pajamas. I am tired, upset, angry, remorseful, resentful, disappointed, crushed, and everything in between. Hopefully I can redeem myself in the game against Kits on thursday.

January 13 2014:
Today I had volleyball after school. But before that, in the morning, I had basketball. We have a game against Lord Byng tomorrow so hopefully we can pull out another win... Volleyball was good, it's always awkward because I don't really know anyone. It was even more awkward today because the 2 people I'm friends with on the team weren't there. One is injured and the other was at the open house for Churchill. I didn't really do anything after I got home, I was just really tired

January 12 2014:
Today I woke up cleaned and did homework. Then my brother had a playdate. Then I went to play tennis with my dad. I haven't played tennis lately so I'm really out of practice. After I came home, I did preparations for guests that were coming. So we have this tradition that for Russian orthodox Christmas we have our really good friends over (same people that we visit on Christmas). My friend and I just hung out, attempted the impossible quiz, and told ridiculous stories. We also ate some traditional Russian food and dessert. I also did my applied skills video today since I found out last night that I had to do it.

Today I had guitar. I'm learning No Place Like Home by Marianas Trench. So I finally finished my needlepoint of the cupcake and now I'm starting on the cross stitch. I'm still working on the frame of the bike so it doesn't really look like anything yet.
I did my "most important news stories of 2013" thing for socials today and now I'm really depressed. After writing about the Boston bombing and the Syrian civil war, I need to be so grateful that I live in such a peaceful country.

January 10 2014:
Today was fairly uneventful. School. Then I came home, had a snack and went to volleyball in UBC. At volleyball, I found out that I can't jump serve to save my life. But that makes sense because today was the first time I had ever attempted a jump serve. After volleyball, I drove out to Richmond with my dad and he dropped me off at tennis. I haven't played tennis since my hurt myself so I was really out of practice. I'm really tired now from all the sports (4 hours) so I'm heading to bed...zzzzzzzzzzz... bye!

January 9 2013:
I didn't blog yesterday because there wasn't really anything to blog about. Other than the bulldog classic (which I'm sure everyone else who went blogged about it).
Today we had a game at Hamber, the first league game of the season. I'm happy to say, we beat our rivals 30-something to 6. I got a lot of rebounds but I only made one basket. To be fair, I only shot twice. So I made %50 of my baskets.
Today was also my parents' wedding anniversary. 15 years. They went out for dinner so mt great-aunt and I looked after my brother. 15 years is actually a lot if you look at their ages (36 and 37). I hope they had a good time and I know that there will be many more anniversaries to come.

January 7 2013:
So today was the Canadian Geography Challenge (I think that was what it was called...) and I knew that I was going to do awful so Julie and I paired up. We ended up actually doing pretty well... The top score in our class was 40 and we got 29.
Early morning basketball kills me, but I have it again tomorrow. At least it gives me more time after school to do homework and I can go outside while it's still light out.

January 6 2013:
SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?????????????????? I was just making use of my break! The teachers were pretty chill today so all was good in learning world (learning world? I don't know, my brain isn't functioning properly). Most of the girls are dreading the gymnastics unit in gym. I don't see what's so bad, even if you aren't very good at gymnastics, it's better than running.
I had basketball and volleyball back-to-back so I am really tired right now. To top it off I have basketball at 6:45 tomorrow so I really have to go to bed.

Today I started the day with a walk. Then I kind of just chilled out all day and made some dinner. For dinner I made crab cakes and chicken and okra stew. To see more about that, check out my other blog: teenchefinthekitchen.blogspot.ca.
So school starts tomorrow and I am dreading waking up... *sigh*

January 4 2013:
Today my dad and I went for a bike ride. We went to Central Park and we crossed the river on the skytrain bridge and went to Starbucks and then we came home. It took us about 1 1/2 hours.
Later, I made some macarons. They were okay... I over baked them and most of them cracked... Later, my dad and I went to play badminton at he beat me really badly. The closet score was 15-7 and that was the last game we played.

January 3 2014:
Today I had basketball practice at 10. I tried out my new brace, and i have to say, it feels really comfortable. My ankle did feel a bit sore but there was no pain on discomfort while I was playing.
After basketball I went to Tania's house and we play some super smash bros brawl and some Mario party 8. After that I came home and had some dinner.
Later, my dad and I watched an episode of Cutthroat kitchen. We got our cable turned on today (for the Olympics coming up) and so we watched some food network. I really like Cutthroat kitchen and I'm going to try and explain the show. Ok... Pretty much, every episode there are 4 new chefs (similar to chopped, sweet genius, cupcake wars, etc...) at the beginning of each round they are given the dish they must make. In the episode we saw it was rnd1: turkey dinner, rnd2:french toast, and rnd3: lobster rolls with a side. Then the contestants are given 60 seconds to get their ingredients from the pantry. After the ingredients have been gathered, there are 3 auctions (only for rounds 1 and 2, at least in the episode I saw). Each chef is given $25,000 at the beginning of the first round and they can use that money in the auctions. The auctions are pretty much to sabotage your competitors such as taking away their utensils, giving them powdered dairy instead of the real thing, making them use processed food, and a whole bunch of other good stuff. In addition to the 3 auctions before the cooking starts there is generally one during the cooking. In round 3 all the auctions happen during the cooking. The chefs have the same $25,000 the whole competition to spend so they have to spend wisely. In the end the winner receives all the money they have left over.

January 2 2014:
Today I went to physio for a follow up session on my ankle. It's healed with some scar tissue but it's going to take another 2 weeks before it is 100%. After my appointment I went to buy an ankle brace since all my sports activities start on Monday. I have PE, basketball, and volleyball on Monday so I want to protect my ankle.
It really keeps my ankle from rolling all over the place and it's actually pretty comfortable considering that it is a brace.
Tomorrow I have a basketball practice so I'll try my brace out...We'll see how it works...
My song of the day is Innocence by Avril Lavigne.

January 1 2014:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a whole new year and I'm ready. It's time for a whole year of new experiences. Last year (2013) was a really good year, nothing significantly bad happened. Last night I went to a new year's party at Catelyn's and I didn't really know anyone... BUT... Catelyn's friends are really cool and I had a lot of fun.
Today my mom made some really good traditional Russian food and we had a feast. We toasted to the new year and I'm really excited!
